BEST IDEA EVARRRR?

Dragon Age/FFXII crossover -- the Blight comes to Ivalice and the three nations have to unite against it.

The Deep Roads could totally have an exit in the Zertinan Caverns, from which an assortment of Grey Wardens and Companions might emerge to help fight the darkspawn. Dragons versus airships. Zevran flirting with Ashe. The corrupting properties of Mist. Someone becomes a Grey Warden. (Vaan? Balthier? Basch???) All kinds of shenanigans come to mind.

Please tell me all the reasons this is a terrible idea that would never work.

This makes me want to play Dragon Age because I'm already convinced this will work even though I'm missing half the fandom knowledge required to make any judgments on workability. :)

Also, Dragon Age is just a really excellent game, so I totally recommend it. ;)

I don't know... I'd been thinking about it idly, in the "neat idea, but it would never ever work" sense, but then as I was writing this post it started seeming more and more feasible.

I mean, imagine what would happen if Fran and Sten met? Or Leliana and Vaan? Morrigan and Balthier? Morrigan and Ashe? Would Morrigan develop feelings for Basch...?

The possibilities! :D

The more I think about Grey Warden!Basch, the better I like it.

Oh god, Morrigan and Balthier. That would also be epic. Although I think my brain is working on a post DA:O canon deal (so they don't have to be worried about the Blight back in Ferelden), and now I'm thinking of ways to work evil demon baby into the story... we don't know what's on the other side of that Tevintor mirror, after all.

I'm going to have to write this, aren't I.

....I am not going to tell you any such thing because the concept of Alistair or Zevran with Ashe has melted my brain to such a degree that I cannot even tell you.

Also, jfc, Zevran/Balthier please this has to happen.

I sort of already have a conversation buzzing in my head where Ashe boggles at the idea of Grey Warden Alistair walking away from a throne. Whether anything more 'ship like comes of that, I don't know -- Warden-Commander Cousland is looking daggers at me just for typing that -- but I suppose at this stage of the game, anything is possible.

I. I am about 90% sure this is going to have to be my Mega Flare. Oh boy.
