As to Dune, I gave up after the second. Herbert seemed to go into a L. Ron Hubbard theosophy after that and I was no longer interested.

Much the same thing happened to me with Anne Rice and her vampires. Once she made Lestrade (sp. ?) into a rock musician, I parted company with her. The Isis/Osiris stuff was just more insults to my mind. Some (published) writers should know when to stop. LOL
