It gets a little better as you go on - I was getting walked at the beginning, but now that I'm on Mt. Ordeals it's going a little smoother, but still more challenging than I'm used to.

However, level-grinding seems to have gotten a little less annoying in this version (I don't know if they downed the XP-per-level?) so that's something!
