There's an issue i hadn't thought about up till this point; we as liberals are all for the idea of freedom of choice, correct? And i mean choice in all it's aspects; allowing everyone to choose what they want to do or don't want to do, such as the right to have an abortion if it's the person's choice. That's all cool beans. But you mentioned the topic of medical professionals refusing on religious grounds to give such treatment to a woman. Now I dislike religion as much as the next liberal, and i think it should be kept separate from a person's proffessional life, but in telling a doctor with Christian or Islamic beliefs that they are not allowed to bring their religious views into their profession and they must treat whomever comes to them for help... isn't that taking away their freedom of choice? Besides if a doctor refuses to treat a person on religious grounds, that person can just find another doctor who is not so religiously inclined.
