That does make good sense. I especially can understand the federal courts not wanting to weigh in on our proposition system, because it's hard enough to fathom how it works from the inside. It already is a travesty; anything the federal courts might do can't make it that much worse.
I admit that I am torn as to which outcome I would like to see. Regarding this case specifically, it appears that the Walker decision is a really strong one that has a decent chance of standing up all the way to the Supreme Court, which would be incredible. On the other hand, the CA initiative system is so badly broken that an opportunity to put another check on it strikes me as a good thing. I suppose, overall, it would be better for the case to go forward, but the latter is a nice dream.
