Ah, I understand your objection now. Yes, it's true that the Warden never really gets into the implications of putting a Warden on the throne *with Alistair*, with whom s/he could openly discuss all the issues of taint and shortened lifespan and Warden neutrality (although the last becomes less of an issue if Alistair officially quits the order) and so forth. There's just the conversation I mentioned in my comment, and that only happens after the decision to put Alistair on the throne has been made. And I agree, when you put it that way -- it should have been dealt with in a better way than Alistair shying away from the topic whenever it comes up, until the Landsmeet is upon him and suddenly he can't put it off any more.

I'm going to assume that your Warden didn't harden Alistair, because if he is hardened, he becomes much more open to the idea of becoming king, and more willing to marry Anora. In my second game, I played a dwarf Noble Warden who both hardened Alistair and brokered the marriage, because from her perspective it was the obvious solution: a political alliance to unite the two factions. And since dwarf society accepts polyamory under certain circumstances, the idea that Alistair might have to give up his relationship with her to marry Anora never even entered her mind. I actually found it quite a palatable solution for all three characters as well as Ferelden, but I admit that a lot of factors have to come together just right -- not every Warden and not every Alistair would accept it. (It might also just be my interest in triads coming through again. ;) ) In my first game, my female noble did not harden Alistair, and she crowned Anora sole queen for much the same reasons that your Warden did.
