DA's battle system reminded me a good bit of FFXII's which I found awesome. I like to play very tactical games but I don't like to mindlessly slog through menus. So, for me, tactics (or FFXII's gambits) for managing battles that are mindless and then tactical micromanaging for anything interesting.
Except for killer horrible situations, I tended to leave my healer-buffer entirely on tactics (or FFXII's gambits, for that matter) and my rogue mostly on tactics, and then micromanage my damager-spellcaster and, as needed, my tank.
