I share your interpretation of Oghren, for the most part, but I've never managed to make him into a close friend -- maybe things go differently if you do.

As for Alistair, I agree with you there, too -- note that I did not say I considered him as my answer here, ;) -- he seems the sort to be a steadfast and loyal friend under most circumstances. He is, in fact, probably the most drama-free love interest in either of the games, at least as far as his personality is concerned (the tension and drama in his romance come from external circumstances instead), which makes him an excellent friend candidate as well.
