I wrote you a really nice comment and then work internet ate it. :(
Anyway - you probably haven't read my reaction shot because it would have been a spoiler to you - but we actually have a lot of the same thoughts.
1. I was also disappoint in the ladies in this show. Mainly because: continuing Bechdel Fail. And this is a case where the circular argument of "faithful to the source canon" / "but it's 2012" / etc can keep going and going. In the end I think it's important to say, "[blah blah source canon], but." Because, really. I mean, Molly comes out blazing in that last episode, but even then she's still defined entirely by Sherlock. Irene Adler (whose name I know now, although when I was writing the post I had forgotten it) is her own issue, but honestly, she wasn't a recurring character, she was set up as a one-off episode char, and I want awesome recurring ladies.
2. You should at least read the (very incoherent, sorry!) middle of my post because I was actually REALLY MAD that Reichenbach Falls made me cry. Not only was it not really a big shock, if you have a general awareness of Sherlock Holmes, but like -- it was so over-the-top and overdone and I was very upset that it made me so emotional. But I cried, because goddamn Martin Freeman forever. I apparently thought that was very unfair and now that I'm reading my reaction shot I'm laughing. XD
3. I loved the chemistry between Sherlock and John, and even though I totally ship it, I love that you don't have to -- their relationship is right there, a million tiny ways that you know they mean the world to each other, whether or not you want it in bed or just next to each other on the couch.
4. The only book I have actually ever read was Hounds of Baskerville. I'm not sure how this is relevant at all, but, you know. XD
