And what would....

Sorry, I know this is necro'ed but I stumbled onto it while trying to decide what to do with a rivalmanced Fenris and mage Hawke. Should she dump him after the one night stand and go with Anders, who will treat her like a goddess? Or should she stay the course and hate herself for loving a man who makes her feel like crap and a monster about herself constantly? For every single compliment to her, there are at least a half dozen insults or backhanded comments. Plus, Fenris is the consummate hypocrite (with the sole exception of Sebastian). He calls people out easily on being cowards or weak, yet he himself is the weakest of the lot. He feels love for Hawke and has flashbacks and runs. Instead of talking to her (or him), he waits three whole years, during which she is supposed to put her life on hold--or he runs to Isabela. He stays because he thinks he can get something out of Hawke, namely protection from Danrius. Even Isabela's b.s. of having to have her sorry butt dragged back to the right path time and time again; even when she would have traded the lives of people for Castion's ship pales in comparison.

Though it is sad that you can't earn rivalry points with Anders on the stance of mages and Templars working together peacefully. That would be sweet.

Decisions, decisions....

What I have a hard time with is your pro-Templar stance of thumping circles. *clears throat* Enter Malcolm Hakwe.... You know that guy? That one guy who fathered Hawke? The guy who escaped the circle, lived as an apostate, and taught (at least) Bethany in secret to control her magic and that her magic should "serve that which is best in her, not which is most base". He also passed on his beliefs and trained his non-mage children, as Carver explains. Carver's attitude comes from feeling like he was left out, and then allowing that frustration to turn into bitter jealousy.

Malcolm Hawke was also a devoted Andriastian and came to the same conclusion Anders did, that Andraste counseled men to seek their own path to the Maker, as shown in Legacy.

As far as Sebastian goes, he's blind, arrogant, ignorant, and an utter moron and hypocrite. He's all for getting vengeance for whatever slight he thinks he's suffered---so long as he has mercs or an army at his back. F* him, I actually deleted the Exiled Prince DLC on my third playthrough because my poor Hawke couldn't force mage his skull into the ground.
