Makes sense. I've also noticed that just because I play a game doesn't mean I'll get fannish about it -- my FFX/X-2 replay inspired almost no fic, and even though I had a blast with FFIX, I had no urge to write about it at all. I do have some hope that many people discovering/rediscovering FFX at once will give the overall fandom a bit of a bump.
