FogCon 2015 To-Read list
Something that I've meant to do every single year but never gotten around to is researching and writing up all the book, story, blog, and other recommendations I get at FogCon. In the spirit of diversifying my reading, and getting things done, I'd like to fix this. So I'll start with the most recent year and then hopefully work backwards.
Note, this is by no means comprehensive; it's just the various recs I got via panels and random conversations around the Con that I found intriguing enough to write down. But I hope that people besides me will find the list interesting.

- The Small Change series by Jo Walton
- Coherence, a film from 2013 written and directed by James Ward Byrkit. Per IMDb: "Strange things begin to happen when a group of friends gather for a dinner party on an evening when a comet is passing overhead."
- Harry Harrison, West of Eden -- What if the dinosaurs had survived? Rec'd based on my recommendation of Kate Elliott's Spiritwalker trilogy, specifically regarding the trolls and troll society.
- Visit to a Weird Planet - Star Trek fic, an early entry in the RPF genre.
- Tom Sawyer as a triskter figure -- no specific rec, just an interesting idea to contemplate.
- The French Lieutenant's Woman by John Fowles -- interesting exercise in meta fic.
- Was by Geoff Ryman -- Wizard of Oz metastory.
- Peter Straub, In the Night Room
- Landscape Painted With Tea by Milorad Pavic - "part modern Odyssey and part crossword puzzle."
- The Unwritten - comic series from Vertigo
- MWC2015 - I have no idea what I meant by this. I highly doubt it refers to the Mobile World Conference or Married With Children. Is there a periodical with these initials? A blog? A con? Does anyone know?
- Octavia Butler - Lilith's Brood, Fledgling
- Jewelle Gomez
- Elfquest - which I never did read, and the back catalog is available free online.
- Bridge of Dreams by Chaz Brinchly
- Elizabeth Bear, Eternal Sky series
- Steph Swainston, The Fourlands series
- Martha Wells, City of Bones
- The State of the Art - Iain Banks (the link goes to a collection, but the rec is for the novella of the same title, which the collection includes)
- Blindsight by Peter Watts
- Maria Doria Russell, The Sparrow (this actually got recommended several times)
- Charlie Jane Anders, Love Might Be Too Strong a Word (short story, free online at Lightspeed)
- M.C.A. Hogarth - The Aphorisms of Kherishdar, specifically the calligraphers story (exact title of story not given).
- Doctor Alien by Raj Narvaja -- I can't figure out what this is, either; any guesses?
- Martha Wells, Emilie series
- Joanna Bourne - romance author who blogs about writing
