The community was really great, although it could also be suffocating at times. I dated a Swarthmore guy my senior year (and for a few years after graduation), and I appreciated the opportunity to get away every couple of weeks, and I also took advantage of the proximity to Philadelphia. I don't think I would have liked Bryn Mawr nearly as well if it had been more isolated from an urban center.
Given how young and inexperienced we are when picking college, and how poor the guidance often is, I find it somewhat amazing that as many people have good college experiences as we do :)
