Update: I talked to my friends, and I remembered it wrong -- neither of them had listened to the soundtrack first. (My friend who I know listened a couple of times beforehand wasn't there.) They said that they might have caught a few more lyrics if they'd already listened, but that was outweighed by the positive aspects of having an entirely new experience. So there's that data point, at least. :)
