I think it’s good to hold off playing KH3 by playing Dream Drop Distance beforehand. It’s set after the events of KH2, and it’s teased as “KH3D (Dream Drop Distance” to, I think, playfully troll fans about how it’s a sequel but not actually KH3. I hear many good things about it, and also connects Sora’s current story with how events played out Birth by Sleep.

I saw gameplay of KH3 in London Comic Con where players were at the Toy Story world. I couldn’t really believe that it was actually real until I saw the actual gameplay and it looked very sleek and fun.
