Agents of SHIELD, Season 6: We started watching this season more or less as it aired, then ended up taking a bit of a break from it before finishing it up over the last couple of weeks. Overall it was a pretty decent season, although a distinct step down from its strongest work (my favorite stretches are from S1 after the turn through S2 and most of S4). Though I like Coulson perfectly well, I wish they'd figured out a way to let the character and actor exit gracefully rather than finding excuses to keep bringing him back. I'm far more interested in Daisy, in Mack and Yo-Yo, in May's own journey, and in the workings of SHIELD as a whole. The hard left turn in the finale, and where it's taken them to set up the next season, is pretty interesting. Although I've enjoyed this show, I'm not sorry S7 is its last -- I feel like they've taken most of the characters about as far as they can go, and it no longer feels cohesive with the movie storylines. So I'm ready for it to end.

Arrowverse: I'm now a few episodes into Arrow S7 and The Flash S5. I also rewatched a fair number of Legends and Supergirl S3, although I expect to watch fewer of each going forward because neither of them seems to have many strong ties to the larger 'verse. I understand if they don't want to make the shows too dependent on each other, not even the three main Arrowverse shows, but the fact that Quentin Lance's death at the end of Arrow S6 is barely referenced in the Legends premiere, and only via Sara making a vague joke and getting a Look from Nate, is not very satisfying in terms of big picture storytelling. I get that months seem to have passed, but the idea that Sara would be so unaffected by her father's death doesn't ring true to her character at all.

A few various thoughts about various events. The breakup of Team Arrow was frustrating but well done -- almost every decision and argument felt true to all that the characters had been through. The big fight between Oliver and John... oooof. They are comrades and they are brothers, and they really know how to hurt each other. I was a little uncomfortable with the way that John came back and apologized to Team Canary without getting an apology in return -- especially from Curtis, who lost all claim to the moral high ground the second he hacked the chip in John's arm. In part because of that, I was disappointed that Curtis wasn't a stop on Oliver's farewell tour before he went to prison. I thought they deserved a moment, and I wanted to hear Curtis acknowledge that he had made mistakes, too. This new season will be interesting, I think. Oliver isolated in prison, the remains of Team Arrow figuring out their own various paths. The flash forward with Roy and William caught me way off guard. The actor playing adult William doesn't look too much like Stephen Amell, but he sure SOUNDS like him. I'm really curious to see where that storyline goes.

I have less to say about the Flash finale. I am pleased that Ralph came back. Harry Wells's transformation was heartbreaking. I forget how, but I got spoiled for Nora's identity some time back, but she makes an interesting addition to Team Flash -- though I do miss Wally.
