The Sam and Bucky Show: Ep. 4
Damn.
So Karli may not have achieved her end goal of killing Captain America, but she surely ended him as any kind of positive symbol for the world. That ending image -- John Walker standing over the body of the man he brutally murdered, shield covered in blood, surrounded by phone cameras -- was a hell of a thing. I'm a bit iffy on the show's decision to kill off Lamar as their means to that end, but we'll see how the handle the repercussions. It seemed likely that we were heading toward Walker taking the serum, to the point that I was surprised he didn't jab it into his neck right then and there.
I entirely expected that Walker would never hand Zemo over to the Dora Milaje, but it was a little surprising to me that Sam and Bucky took Walker's side in that fight. The bit with Ayo, Bucky, and the arm was super-effective. I wonder if we'll see Zemo again.
Sam making progress with Karli and then getting interrupted in the worst time, and in the worst way, by meathead Fake!Cap, was heart-breaking. I wonder if it would've gone better if he'd been upfront about Walker's presence, but maybe she wouldn't have stopped to talk at all. I can't decide how I feel about Karli. My reactions to well-intentioned extremists tend to be complicated, and Karli is no exception. I want to root for her, and believe in her, but she takes things just enough too far that it makes it difficult. I get the sense that some of her team feel the same way, although not to the point that they'll stand up to her. I really don't know which way this is going to go, and that's kind of exciting.
This is a lot to wrap up in two episodes. I hope it doesn't end up feeling rushed, and that not too many threads get dropped.
