Vacay update

Vacation has overall been very nice! Brunch and pool laziness on Monday, a day of total sloth on Tuesday, Wednesday-Thursday-Friday a good mix of relaxing and attending work meetings while making my co-workers jealous with my palm tree background and bird sounds. Also on Wednesday we went up the Palm Springs Tramway where we took in some really amazing views.

Today some of my friends went to Joshua Tree, but I decided I wasn't up for that because I took a bit of a tumble on Wednesday after dinner. We were walking back from the restaurant, and I took a bad step on uneven pavement, landing hard on my left hand and right side, and scraping up my right knee. I went to an urgent care clinic yesterday, mostly to get my hand checked out. I learned that this type of fall has an informal name -- it's called a FOOSH, or fall onto outstretched hand, and it's possible that I've cracked one of the bones in my wrist (a scaphoid fracture). Unfortunately, the clinic didn't have an x-ray tech on staff that day, so they couldn't give me a full diagnosis. I have an appointment to get it checked out with my regular doctor on Monday. Right now it's in a splint. I also definitely did something to my right side, but there's not much medical science can do about that, so I'm just downing Advil and taking it easy.

Tomorrow we head home. Despite getting injured, overall it's been a wonderful escape. I would definitely do this again. And if you're ever looking to rent a house in Palm Springs, I'd recommend this one for sure - feel free to send me a DM and I'll give you the info.

Yikes, that sounds awfully painful. I hope you heal up well and quickly! (Also, "FOOSH" is a great name.)

I totally did a FOOSH due to uneven pavement a few years ago (running backwards to avoid a rampaging SUV making a left turn very quickly in the dark), and I did break my scaphoid, and it was awful. I'm glad you didn't break yours!

My cousin moved to Palm Springs during the pandemic, so I do have a place to stay when I can get down there. He has a salt pool!

Oh no! I'm so sorry for the fall :( I did that in Savannah - tripped on the trolley tracks and knees-first into the cobblestones, first night there. Then proceeded to limp around the rest of vacation. Not recommended.
