Infuriating is the word. Once you notice it, it's bloody everywhere. But conversely when female desire IS prioritised, it's really satisfying. One of the few things I liked about the depiction of the female characters in Stranger Things was that the pining Good Boy doesn't get the girl, instead she gets the jock because he's the one she wants, even if he isn't all that great as a human being.
