YAQM (yet another questions meme)

From lots of people. I think [livejournal.com profile] mneme_forgets was the first one.

1. What time did you get up this morning? 7AM

2. Diamonds or pearls? Neither; I like color. My engagement ring has sapphires, which I love.

3. What was the last film you saw at the cinema? The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, I think

4. Whats your favourite TV show? Currently: Lost. Ever: Star Trek DS9

5. What did you have for breakfast? Nothing yet. Yesterday: cinnamon toast and tea at the cafe across the street

6. What is your middle name? decline to state

7. What is your favourite food? Chocolate, cheese, pasta with tomato sauce and lots of mozzarella

8. What foods do you dislike? Fish, many vegetables, most kinds of fruit

9. What is your favourite chip flavour? Salt and vinegar, but only the real stuff. I don't usually mind artificial flavoring but in this case I can't stand it.

10. What CD are you currently listening to? Nothing at the moment

11. What kind of car do you drive? Honda Civic

12. Favourite sandwich? Hamburgers. ;) Okay, really Italian subs.

13. What characteristics do you despise? Hypocrisy

14. Favourite items of clothing? The awesome brown jacket and my red leather suede coat. Both of these are items that friends made me try on -- I would never have picked them up myself.

15. If you could go anywhere in the world on vacation where would you go? Italy, specifically Rome. Maybe next year.

16. What colour is your bathroom? White.

17. Favorite brand of clothing? Probably Land's End. Or Jones New York, if they aren't being stupid.

18. Where would you retire to? Here, I think

19. Favourite time of day? Evening. I used to be more of a night person, but various body clock changes over the years make that more difficult.

20. What is your most memorable birthday? It's hard to pick, but let's say freshman year of college, when I was surprised with Ben & Jerry's and lantern swinging on the steps of the Campus Center.

21. Where were you born? Columbus, OH

22. What fabric detergent do you use? All Free & Clear

23. Coke or Pepsi? Coke, always and forever

24.Are you a morning person or night owl? Night owl by nature, morning person by circumstance.

25. What is your shoe size? 8-1/2 wide

26. Do you have any pets? Yes

More lines, as long as we're here.

I would have thought you to be a natural morning person

Nah. I've adapted, but I wish I could go back to living at night.

Word processing is the one place where I have given in to the Evil Empire. I've been an MS Word user from college and have grown so used to it that I can't imagine using anything else. So I use Office:Mac and am pretty happy with it (I was able to pick it up cheap with the educator discount).

You currently use Star Office, correct? It's possible to run Star Office on the Mac; I have it installed, although I almost never use it. I'll be seeing other Mac-savvy friends at lunch today (I know a *lot* of dedicated Mac people) so I can ask around.

so I can ask around.

That would be kind and gracious of you. I had not realized Star had a Mac version. It seems I have more options than I had thought. The Mariner Write program is only thiry dollars! Wow! I can understand your using Word. It is so often we become so used to something that a change is more trouble than it is worth. Over the years, I have learned to hate Gates and his sloppy programming so much, I almost retch at the thought of using anything from his shop. Typical convert zeal. ;-)

Well, to my knowledge, it doesn't. Not for OSX, anyway. But you can run it using an X-Windows emulator. (MC will know what that means if you don't. ;) There's one built in to OSX.) But I'm sure there are more straightforward option; I'll see what I can find out today.
