big news

Well, I just gave notice.

In two weeks I will be starting as a librarian at another vocational school, an art school, in a larger library with more staff and more opportunities. Since my long-term ambition is to work as a an academic art librarian, this is huge jump forward along my planned career path. So I am really excited! And I'm happy to be able to share this news with all of you now. :)

It's not so much about leaving my current job (although there are a lot of ways in which I am dissatisfied with it) as it is about taking the new one. And I'm glad about that; it's always better to leave for something better if you can. Part of me feels strange about leaving a job after less than a year; I've never done that before, not a serious job anyway. But this opportunity came along and I had to take it.

I will miss the people, though. And the students, although in a way the timing is interesting on that, since a group of the students I was most attached to finished a couple of weeks ago. But I got a really good vibe for the people I met on the interview, and there will be new students to get to know. All in all, I'm really looking forward to it!

And now, to not succumb to short-timers disease. Well, not too badly.

I

I had not realized this was so precisely on your highway. That makes it more exciting and wonderful than ever that you took this chance and succeeded. Bravo for you, KJ. Nobody can be happier for you than I. You should be floating and flatulent with happiness. LOL

What is short-timers disease?

It's when you have a hard time bringing yourself to care about your work because you know you aren't going to be there for much longer. Ever heard of senioritis? It's similar.

Thanks! :)
