Drabble request four

Title: Breakfast
Fandom: FFX-2
Rating: PG-13
Set: Postgame
Spoilers: None
Pairings: Gippal/Baralai
Prompt: Baralai wakes up one morning to find a loaf of french bread in his bed. What happened? For [livejournal.com profile] iamleaper, who seems to enjoy stories involving Baralai and french bread.
Notes: 100-word drabble. No baked goods were harmed in the making of this story.

The sound of chewing woke me. Opening my eyes, I discovered a half-eaten loaf of french bread on the pillow, flakes of crust littering the sheets, and I lifted my head to glare at the other inhabitant of the bed.

"What?" Gippal said through his mouthful.

"You're making a mess."

"Sorry, 'Lai. Got hungry, needed an early breakfast." His eye twinkled. "You wore me out."

"Flatterer."

He grinned. "Want some?"

I plucked the loaf from his hand and set it on the bedside table. "I'd rather have something else."

He lowered his mouth to mine, all thoughts of food forgotten.

Squee! :) I love well-written Gippalai. Very, very cute. I can just imagine it happening.

Thanks! This one was actually hard to write, but it was also fun. :)

This is the most provocative (no! not that way!) of the drabbles - I think. It genuinely packs an entire story into a hundred words. Well crafted!

not that way!

Well, but it is the only one that puts the characters in a bed. ;)

Thanks! I agree that, of this set, this story probably stands alone the best.

That's very cute and very gippal. He would be thoughtless enough to eat half a loaf of bread in bed. *grins* And I just bet that is the sort of thing that would secretly drive Baralai mad, although he'd likely be too nice to actually mention how crazy it made him.

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.

But Gippal knows anyway -- he sees the glare, and he loves knowing just how to push Baralai's buttons. ;)

These guys are fun to write. They're actually the only slash pairing I've ever written (hm, and both times in response to prompts provided by [livejournal.com profile] iamleaper). I like both characters a lot and they play so well off each other.

Perfect! I can just imagine Gippal's voice on that "What?" And I love the "all thoughts of food forgotten"... you really have a talent with these little drabbles, you know?

(And, for the record, I put the french bread in just about every request I make. If it's not french bread, it's someone else's pants. ;) Maybe you'll get that one next time!)

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. It was fun to write.

Given your request to [livejournal.com profile] hellbait on this meme, I suspected that the bread is something of a theme with you. At first I wondered if you were angling for a sequel! ;) I actually tried to work up something in that vein but I decided that the relationships there are much too complex to sum up in a hundred-word drabble.
