Cat housekeeping

Lexi is cleaning my desk.

He keeps climbing up on my desk, picking up something from it in his mouth, and removing it. My cellphone case. Hair clips. A mini-sea sponge in a plastic bag. (Why that is on my desk, I am unsure.) He's not even playing with them. He just picks it up, carries it away, and comes back for more.

As long as he doesn't walk away with the computer.

Where does he deposit these items?

As an experiment, you should rub some items with catnip, and see if he favors those.

Um. That was me. That's what I get for clearing out my cookies.

Heh. Anyway, he's just been deposting them on the floor by the water heater cabinet. If he were actually putting them away that would be more useful. ;) As it is, it's just funny.

lol :) I've seen cats do some strange things before... my brother's cat isn't called Skitz (short for schizophrenic) for nothing... :)

My friend E also has a cat called Schitzie. :) Actually, his full name is Schitzie the Freaka-kitty, sometimes called Schitzie and sometimes called Freaky, but a more inappropriately named cat you will never meet -- he's extremely mellow. ;)

You have clearly taught him well, just make sure these items are not lost forever.

It sounds as if you have one like our Prudence. She is a neat freak and cannot bear clutter. She will either clean it up herself or agitate until one of us does it. She has been known to take offense at something in the middle of the night and butt me awake to fix it. Good luck. ;)

Clearly, this is T's cat. Having lived with you and seen your desk recently, I imagine it will be a while before he unearths the computer.

I had a pet rat who would steal objects from near her cage & drag them back in with her. Rocks, silverware, pens, whatever was there (she had a very hard time with the silverware, and one of the larger rocks, but she got them all the way into her cage). One time she even made an attempt at my eyeglasses, which I'd left sitting on the table where she lived, but I wrestled them away from her.

Have you tried to teach Lexi to fetch? Some cats will do that.
