He didn't ask why she came to him at Djose, crimson eyes haunted, looking like a refugee from the desert.
And he didn't ask why when, after she spent a week hiding out in the encampment, he found her waiting for him in his bed one night, all smooth skin and deft fingers and so much softer than he'd imagined she would be.
And he didn't ask why she stayed, their friendship sliding into an affair as naturally as the tide rose and fell over the Djose shore.
And then she left, and it was too late to ask why.

All of these drabbles are sort of out of context, in a way; they give me a chance to play with the characters and not really worry where they fit in any continuity other than that of the game. That's part of the fun, really. :)

Thank you. I rarely get to read the two of them together. I can never really see it working out (I think it's a bit like Nooj/Rikku in many respects) but it's still painfully wonderful to read.
