Seeing red

So the painting continues, and so do the opinions. So far, sentiment is running about two-to-one against the red paint job, although if you include the people who like the red color but think that all red walls are going to be too much it's closer to half and half. Since it's not done yet, and there's still no word on what color the as-yet-unpainted walls will be, the jury is still out.

But who really cares what the faculty, students, and staff who will be actually using the building think? I'm much more curious about you, the people I randomly know on the Internet.

I like that color, really I do! It makes a bold statement. xD

...also, at least it's not yellow? Talk about hurting.

It is bold, for sure. Maybe a little too bold. ;) It's a color I like in and of itself (note how eerily similiar it is to the shoes?). I'll have to post another picture once the painting is finished.

No arguing with that. Plus, I'm really not a fan of yellow. If I have to choose between looking at red all day and looking at yellow, red wins every time.

Heh. And my apartment walls are daffodil yellow, and I LOVE 'em. It's one of the main reasons I took this place. I like the red, but I think a whole room of that color would be awfully dark, long term.

My work has all kinds of weird colored walls/halls/offices -- dark, bold red; fuschia; tangerine; dark royal blue; my office is actually white with stripes of tangerine and a royal purple color.

That said, I work at a porn company. XD

I think it might be a bit disconcerting in an academic setting but I'm so used to painted-white cinderblock walls, I've probably been brainwashed by the un-spiffyness of my mid-1960s university. ;)

...and ironically, I'm listening to David Bowie's "Let's Dance." Speaking of red shoes...

Heh! I keep thinking of the Elvis Costello song myself.

As for the academic setting, I work at a commercial art school. So I think the expectations of students and visitors is a little different than it would be at a traditional university. It does interest me, though, that the people who are most unhappy with the new color are the interior design faculty.... you'd think *someone* would have thought to ask them.

LOL. You'd think!
