People often ask me how a collaboration between two writers works. Turns out the answer, for us anyway, is this: it depends. Sometimes we each bring separate ideas to the table; other times we hash things out in advance and then set them down, either on our own or jointly. And then sometimes, like yesterday, Ikon will post a scene, and I will be so seized with inspiration about what exactly has to come next that I'll spend two hours writing up an event that I didn't even know was coming five minutes before.

I've been blindsided by ideas like that a couple of times and it's always exhilerating. One of my favorite parts of writing.
