"Everybody needs a holiday"

Having a nice visit to San Diego. Except for some unsettledness on Friday, it's been sunny and beautiful. Yesterday was family fun, which was enjoyable -- good wine, good company, good gossip. But it's also throwing me off, because now I feel like I've already had Christmas and I keep forgetting that, on the calendar, it hasn't actually happened yet. Today T and I went to SeaWorld with his sister. It was fun, and T got lots of awesome photographs, which I will share when I get back. Then we got home, had dinner, and listened to the XM vocal classical station, featuring an early music concert by an all-male group called the Suspicious Cheese Lords. I think I need to track down their albums, in part because they sang so beautifully but also because they're called the Suspicious Cheese Lords, and how am I supposed to resist that?

We're coming home tomorrow night (Christmas Day is the very best day to travel if you want to avoid crowds). I'll catch up with you all then. In the meantime, have a most excellent Monday.

So glad you finally got to SeaWorld.

In re early music singers - there is a group of women called (I think) the Anonymous Four which performs music from the Middle Ages and it sounds like they would make a match with the Suspicious Cheese Lords. That is the most alluring name for a group I have heard in a donkey's age.

Happy Celebrations! ;)

I have a couple of albums by Anonymous 4 and they are indeed lovely. I'm also fond of the Tallis Scholars -- I often put on their 25th anniversary compliation when I want soothing music for writing. But I should really seek out more early choral music. Such etheral and lovely stuff.

T is sorting through the SeaWorld pictures right now and I hope to put up the best of them tomorrow. Also some from the Wild Animal Park, where we spent much quality time with the lions.

Best of all, of course, is now I get to spend some quality time with my pocket lions. :)

San Diego must be a wonderland of animals. Lucky you. By the way, pure vulgar curiosity - but who cares for the tigers by your hearth when you and T go away? I thought of that because I am the designated care-giver amongst my neighbors (being the always home hermit).

Happy Boxing Day. Go beat up Rocky. ;)

We have various friends and catsitters. This time I got one of the student workers to watch them. They seem healthy and well-fed. It is good to be back with them, though :)
