A musical meme

Ganked from [livejournal.com profile] bottle_of_shine and [livejournal.com profile] muggy_mountain.

Pick a letter and I will upload three favorite songs that begin with that letter. Songs may or not be representative of how I feel about the requester, but I will make at least some effort to match your tastes. MUSICAL SURPRISE! Copy to your own journal if you like.

I really hope if this keeps going that "MUSICAL SURPRISE!" part remains. XD

I choose D, as in DEVIOUS! Or dubious. You know! WHICHEVER.

A diabolical duo (plus one, and a bonus) of tracks by delicious dudes and dames.

The Police - Darkness
Electronic - Disappointed
Tori Amos - Doughnut Song

Special bonus track: Erasure - Drama!v

UH! If I ever do this meme again someone asks for D, I bet I'll have some songs to give them. Darkness and Disappointed are REALLY fun.

I've heard the Tori Amos song somewhere, but have never owned much of her music except through mix CDs. Her titles. XD

Also, Drama!? One sound: LAWL.

Listen, learn, and, with luck, love.

Great Big Sea - Lukey
Barenaked Ladies - Lovers in a Dangerous Time
Talking Heads - Lifetime Piling Up

Bonus Track: They Might Be Giants - Lie Still, Little Bottle

Responses! Lukey- I like this! Very upbeat, modern British folk. It reminds me a lot of this cd http://www.amazon.com/Troubadours-British-Folk-Vol-3/dp/B0000033N0/ref=m_art_li_2/002-6695001-5200055 which I recommend highly.

Loves in a Dangerous Time- Aaah, so this is why you follow them! I confess I was one of the hordes who kind of passed them off as a sort of pleasant (but novelty) folk band. The lyrics here are evocative and work well with the vocal melody, especially the harmony.

Lifetime Piling Up - I don't know why, but the David Byrne makes me feel chilly. I think it's the production values --sort of curt and distance. I really like the synth melody 3/4 of the way through.

Lie Still, Little Bottle - What's not to love about TMBG, really?

Great Big Sea is a wonderful group. They're Canadian, actually, from Newfoundland (which makes two out of the four songs Canadian, which hadn't really occured to me until just now). I recommend all of their albums.

Yes, there is a lot more to BNL than the jokey stuff. Although to pick this song to make that point is sort of cheating, because it's a cover. ;) But if you want more evidence I am happy to provide it!

What's not to love about TMBG, really?
True, so true. :)
