Okay...

So remember my post about the Illinois bill that would place a sweeping ban on social networking sites in schools and libraries?

Turns out that the state senator who sposored it, Matt Murphy, has a blog. Which is on Blogger. Which is one of the sites that would be blocked if this bill passes.

Maybe he hasn't quite thought that one through....

Think? They think?

I would suspect that they do, but about the wrong things. Especially when "won't someone pleeeeze think of the children?!!!" gets involved. It's like an idiocy field that freezes the brain.

I did note that the guy happens to be a Republican, but Democrats get just as ridiculous around this particular issue. Stupidity knows no party.

I do agree. Whenever I hear that plaintive wail: "For the cheeldreen!" I want to hurt someone. Let the little terrors take their chances; the world is not all geared for the protection and benefit of those under three feet tall. I am inclined to say we should silence all those with thin vocal chords and let the grown-ups rule! Bah!

To be fair, I don't really think that the current world we live in caters to children -- it caters to adults who "want" children but don't want the responsibility of raising decent human beings. Children just seem to be a larger, more obnoxious iPod.

What an ingenious way to put it. You may very well be right.

Maybe...

Maybe he just doesn't want his kids to read his blog. And then his kids said "Yeah? Well, how're ya gonna stop me??" And he said "I'm a goddamn senator, I can make it illegal!"

:)

Aha! His true motivations, unearthed!
