Book meme!

Ganked from several.

These are the top 106 books most often marked as "unread" by LibraryThing's users (as of whenever whoever started this meme looked). As usual, bold what you have read, italicise what you started but didn't finish, and strike through what you couldn't stand. The numbers after each one are the number of LT users who used the tag of that book (that is, last time that the algorithm was done).

Not surprised at how many of these are classics, but I am surprised to see almost all of Neil Gaiman's novels up there. Do lots of people pick his books up on spec and then just never get around to reading them?

Totally agree with you about Wicked. I'll be coming up with my own top 100 list over at my site, in the next day or three...

Wicked = loathed it. I was wondering why it was so popular when it sucked so bad I couldn't get through the first chapter.

Ah, but you were wise enough to stop reading it during the first chapter. I on the other hand, wasted more hours, telling myself, "Oh, this should get better, right?" How wrong I was.

Same here. I almost finished it, but couldn't quite bring myself to do so. Kept thinking it had to get better. But alas, no.

My problem with it, I think, is that I loved the Oz books so much, and this totally didn't tie into the spirit of them at all.

Because someone adapted the musical from the book, and gave it publicity; I didn't hear about the book until after I learned of the musical.

Also, the musical is 93651716 times more awesome than the book.

Books!
