Notes from a training

Day two of training is complete; it's going fine so far. I can already see there are some things I'm going to love about the new database software and other things that will cause us serious problems. But that's not why I'm posting.

The database contains several different types of records, one of which is called an "mfhd".

This is pronounced "muffhead".

It's been two days, and it has yet to stop being funny. And at this rate, I doubt it ever will.

Actually more like snorts repressed behind hands. Unless someone is actively making a joke about it (like proposing it as a name for our union catalog -- you know, Melvyl, WorldCat, Muffhead), and then it's more like gales of laughter. ;)
