YAY

Laws against same-sex marriage violate the California constitution.

I knew the ruling was coming today, but I honestly had not allowed myself to hope that it would happen this way.

This isn't over -- there's an excellent chance that a proposition to overturn the ruling will be on the ballot next November. But still, this is a happy and exciting day. Hooray!!

Edited: I see I'm about the tenth person on my flist to post about this. :) Oh well, sometimes you just can't reign the excitement in.

Nit picking (sorry!)

Reign is what the Queen does. I think you meant "rein in" which relates to a horse's tackle. Or something like that :)

I've been so slow on LJ lately I hadn't posted about it, but was very, very pleased and surprised.

Even if the ballot measure which people are now gearing up for will probably pass, because 60% of people go "eeew, marriages, in danger, yikes!" because we all know there's a limited supply at the local Wal-mart... just as, if it had been left in the hands of the voters in the 50s, I'm sure interracial marriage would've been banned.
