Dear WordPress
The reason I switched to you from FF.net for archiving all my fic was not so you could mess up my formatting by stripping the centering from all my section breaks and sticking the characters at the beginning of the next paragraph.
So much for getting that project finished this weekend...

Your user pic reminds me of Queen Victoria's reprimand to the incompletely costumed Scotsman - "No tam used!"
Re: I
I just wish I knew what had caused it. This problem didn't crop up until I started posting DSHnD; as far as I can tell, all my other stories are formatted fine.

Let me know if I can help!

So do you mean creating a new thing in the stylesheet called "section break" and using that instead of the HTML center tag?

I use CSS that is likely totally wrong! It's cobbled; it's how I do everything! Welcome to Renay's Coding World, where it's quite possible the coaster will run off the tracks and into a fiery crash 40 feet below! But it'll work until it dies, so if you're okay with that, ahoy!
I use a class (classes, IDs, did we have this talk?) because you can repeat it as often as necessary, unlike IDs. This goes in my CSS file:
p.divider {text-align: center;}And then for my actual dividers that are hanging out with my story text, I have:
<p class="divider">-x-</p>When you open your CSS file you should see
hr { margin: 10px; height: 2px; color: #5b86af; }. I would put the first bit of code I gave you right above that, save and then replace your line breaks with the second bit that I provided, save and see if it works. If it does we might have to play around with the margins a little, because I bet it'll duplicate the <p> tags, but I'd have to see it in action to figure out where to go from there. (Did you add the break tags or did Wordpress? Take those out if you can when you make this change so I can see what the code is doing without them.)Whenever you have time!

I'm just annoyed. A "center" tag is not exactly the most complicated HTML in the world. The whole point of going this route is that it was just supposed to *work* in the short term, to make it easy to get started. Now I have to muck around with the guts of the site to make something as simple as
not be randomly screwed up? Not what I signed on for. :P Whine, whine.

I did not add break tags, nor would I have done so intentionally -- that must have been WordPress, doing something weird with the formatting in Visual mode.

I'd uhhh do it for you if you'd give me access! NO WHINING NECESSARY.
