Don LaFontaine passed away yesterday. You may be thinking you don't know who that is, but watch (or really, listen to) the first few seconds of this video, and you'll recognize him:

RIP, Mr. LaFontaine. I'm sure you'll be much imitated, but never duplicated.

Man, that's a shame. I watched that going, "Hey, he's pretty cool!" and "Hey, everything he says sounds like a trailer!" and "Hey, I wish I had a voice mail message like that!" - and then I re-read the part where you wrote he died. Like, way to point out someone cool after the fact.

I know, I wish I had discovered that video a long time ago. I especially like that he seems to have a sense of humor about his image.

Wow. He's FUNNY.

I didn't know who The Voice was, but I'd heard a few parody-style trailers and commercials recently, including a car commercial where he kept doing that and the wife kept saying, "WHY are you talking like this, honey?" I thought it was a spoof, but I bet it really was LaFontaine.
