Hello darkness my old friend

Six AM seems mighty early when you haven't had to see it for awhile. Between shift switching and the Labor Day holiday, I haven't had to work an opening shift for two weeks, and am I ever feeling it today. Not the most energetic way to kick off a six-day work week.

Also, when did it get so dark in the mornings again? I had to check my alarm clock twice to make sure I hadn't accidently set it an hour early. And I could hear the foghorns, which tells me more about the weather than I wanted to know.

It started being semi-dark at six about - oh, I'd say two weeks ago. Completely dark, I only noticed it about a week ago. It's been a good month since it was actually light at six, though.

When I got to the door to feed the Black Prince (the neighbour's outdoor cat who thinks this is his real home), all I can see is a set of brilliantly gleaming white teeth marking the location of his waiting body. He is not a patient soul and loudly agitates for his breakfast at about a quarter after six in the morning.

My friend Jim sent this to me and, of course, I thought of you at once.
