Just when you think you've seen everything

This reads like something that ought to be in The Onion.

PETA writes a letter to Ben & Jerry's urging them to use human milk in its products.

We had this running joke about making butter in college, but we never thought of ice cream. Clearly, we were behind the curve.

With effort, I shall control my curiosity about the butter and simply pass on a related item you may have missed. For the first time in its history, the American Humane Society has endorsed a presidential candidate. Naturally, they chose Obama; that film of Saint Sarah hunting wolves from a helicopter was simply too much for them to tolerate.

Interesting. I hadn't heard about that -- thanks for the update. I find it fascinating that so many groups that don't normally endorse candidates (I'm thinking specifically of NOW, although I know I've heard of others) are throwing their weight behind Obama this year.

By the way, today (Wednesday) is National Punctuation Day. I have no idea how we are supposed to celebrate it. Perhaps we should use semi-colons correctly or something along that line. :)

Why can't every day be National Punctuation Day? ;)

Today is also the Festival of Latest Novelties, which I suppose in some circles could also include correct punctuation...

Also her pushing through a taxpayer-funded bounty for hunters to shoot wolves so there'd be more moose to hunt -- which was later struck down by the Alaska courts as illegal.

Ah, PETA. I'm constantly amazed that a group which is basically promoting values I share can go sooooooo far past reason that even fuzzy wuzzy environmentalists like me have to back away.

My respect for PETA dipped down into the negative numbers many years ago, and they continue not to give me reasons to re-evaluate my opinion. :P If nothing else, I find their focus on ridiculous crusades like this one to be a distraction from the very real issues of environmentalism and animal cruelty.

I'm all for animal rights and putting an end to animal cruelty but I agree with Ben and Jerry's response; a mothers breast milk should go only to her own baby. Eeeeeeeeeeeend of story.

Stop dabbling in such ridiculous ideas PETA and stick to protecting baby seals from club wielding psychotics and putting a spanner into the workings of the fur trade.
