Well, if everyone else is going to do one...

The rules: Guess the song and artist based on the first line(s) of a song. Googling lyrics is cheating. Listening to songs to try to figure out what that one is that is eating you is not.

  1. There’s life underground
I feel it all around, I feel it in my bones
My life is on the line when I’m away from home
When I step out the door, the jungle is alive
    - "Just Another Day", Oingo Boingo, unsolved

  2. Here I go, out to sea again
    The sunshine fills my hair
And dreams hang in the air
Gulls in the sky and in my blue eyes
    - "Wonderful Life", Black, unsolved

  3. Somewhere there’s speaking - "Everything You Want", Vertical Horizon, [livejournal.com profile] madlori & [livejournal.com profile] letters_to_ed

  4. Is it getting better - "One", U2, [livejournal.com profile] luvmoose

  5. Don't the hours grow shorter as the days go by? - "Lovers in a Dangerous Time", BNL, [livejournal.com profile] luvmoose

  6. I’ve been thinking about our fortune
And I’ve decided that we’re really not to blame
For the love that’s deep inside us now
    Is still the same
    - "The Story in Your Eyes", The Moody Blues, unsolved

  7. Under the ruins of a walled city - "Fortress Around Your Heart", Sting, [livejournal.com profile] luvmoose

  8. Take your mind back - I don’t know when
    Sometime when it always seemed
To be just us and them
Girls that wore pink, boys that wore blue
    - "Real Men", Joe Jackson, unsolved

  9. I can't remember how it started
I followed the firemen, I dreamed of the astronauts - "Helmet", The Bobs, [livejournal.com profile] peachespig

  10. The deception with tact, just what are you trying to say? - "One Thing Leads to Another", The Fixx, [livejournal.com profile] letters_to_ed
  11. Guess we can still be friends - "The Other Me", Joe Jackson, [livejournal.com profile] grue23

  12. I see me with you, and all the things we do - "We'll Be Together", Sting, [livejournal.com profile] luvmoose

  13. He was just a social drinker but social every night - "Woman in the Wall", Beautiful South, [livejournal.com profile] grue23

  14. I took my love, I took it down - "Landslide", Fleetwood Mac (and others), [livejournal.com profile] madlori
  15. I'm so happy 'cause today - "Lithium", Nirvana, [livejournal.com profile] grue23

13) Beautiful South - Woman in the Wall

[identity profile] owlmoose.livejournal.com 2005-09-28 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, damn. Didn't think that one would go first!

[identity profile] grue23.livejournal.com 2005-09-28 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I've sometimes been limiting the Beautiful South in my posts because nobody ever gets them.

#12 We'll Be Together, Sting.

[identity profile] owlmoose.livejournal.com 2005-09-28 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup yup yup.

There is something of a theme to 8-15. (I didn't pick the songs randomly this time.) You (and a few other people on my FL) probably have enough context now. Any guess what it is?

[identity profile] luvmoose.livejournal.com 2005-09-28 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Songs discussed recently in your LJ?

[identity profile] owlmoose.livejournal.com 2005-09-28 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope. Note that I said *you* have the context. That's a clue. :)

[identity profile] madlori.livejournal.com 2005-09-28 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Is it songs that our a cappella groups used to sing? I think all of those fit in that category.

[identity profile] owlmoose.livejournal.com 2005-09-28 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Ding! :)

I searched and searched my iTunes for a song that the Keys used to do, but I couldn't find one. Sorry...

[identity profile] luvmoose.livejournal.com 2005-09-28 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
That's why Woman in the Wall sounded familiar when [livejournal.com profile] grue23 gave it to me!

[identity profile] owlmoose.livejournal.com 2005-09-28 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep. The Looney Tunes did it. I didn't have the original version myself until [livejournal.com profile] grue23 gave it to me a few minutes ago...

[identity profile] madlori.livejournal.com 2005-09-28 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I have "Both Hands" by Ani DiFranco on my iTunes, as well as "Me and Julio Down by the School Yard."

[identity profile] owlmoose.livejournal.com 2005-09-28 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I have "Me and Julio" too! I forgot about that one. Don't have the Ani -- my selection of her work is sadly limited.

[identity profile] madlori.livejournal.com 2005-09-28 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
You MUST MUST get Marrow. It's my favorite.

[identity profile] owlmoose.livejournal.com 2005-09-28 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
*adds to list*

These song guessing games have been very dangerous for my music-buying budget...

[identity profile] grue23.livejournal.com 2005-09-28 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
11) Joe Jackson - The Other Me

[identity profile] madlori.livejournal.com 2005-09-28 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
3 is Everything You Want by Vertical Horizon
14 is Landslide by Fleetwood Mac

On an unrelated note, I searched and searched for who sang "The Other Me" for years, because I loved it when the S-Chords sang it. Finally I found out that it was Joe Jackson, but that CD is out of print. I had to get it on eBay. Go me!

[identity profile] owlmoose.livejournal.com 2005-09-28 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a great CD. I always knew that Joe Jackson did "The Other Me" because Joanna R. had the album. You should have asked! :)

[identity profile] madlori.livejournal.com 2005-09-28 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I will never doubt you again!

[identity profile] letters-to-ed.livejournal.com 2005-09-28 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
3. "Everything You Want" Vertical Horizon

[identity profile] letters-to-ed.livejournal.com 2005-09-28 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Oops, I should check the comments first!

[identity profile] owlmoose.livejournal.com 2005-09-28 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
That's okay, I give credit for ties. :)

[identity profile] letters-to-ed.livejournal.com 2005-09-28 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
10. "One Thing Leads to Another" The Fixx

[identity profile] peachespig.livejournal.com 2005-09-29 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
9 - Helmet, the Bobs!

[identity profile] owlmoose.livejournal.com 2005-09-29 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
Yes indeedy.

I have been wondering this all day. Who is that in your icon?

[identity profile] peachespig.livejournal.com 2005-09-29 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
The hero of Canton, The man they call... Jayne! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jayne_Cobb)

As for the hat - pretty cunning, don't you think?

[identity profile] owlmoose.livejournal.com 2005-09-29 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
Holy cow it is! Now I don't see why I didn't recognize him earlier.

The hat, it is so him.

So, so looking forward to the movie...

[identity profile] peachespig.livejournal.com 2005-09-29 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
Woot! We just finished the last three episodes.

[identity profile] plantgirl.livejournal.com 2005-09-29 07:42 am (UTC)(link)
yeah, that!
