cat funny

Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] furitaurus. This is both funny and adorable. I've never seen a cat do anything quite like it.

That is too cute.
Theo's Pavlovian reaction everytime he hears the phone ring is to run to his food bowl and start meowing in the hopes that I will pet him while he eats. For some reason he totally associates the phone with being petted while he eats.

Isn't it funny how cats learn these things? At first Nadia would run away every time the phone rang, because sometimes the phone means scary strangers. Then she learned that if we answered the phone and chatted for awhile, no one was coming up and she could relax. But if we picked up the phone, pressed a key to buzz someone in, and then hung up right away, then someone was coming in and she needed to hide. So she would only run if we hung the phone up right after answering it. She was a smart kitty.

My cats hated high noises like from pennywhistles or recorders. They'd run up to me meowing more and more loudly, circling me and rubbing on me, working up to climbing on me and then biting me, in order to get me to stop. I could rarely keep it up long enough to get to that stage, because I hated seeing them that miserable, but I did a few times just to see what they'd do. Our phone's ring was fairly low pitched, or I suspect it would have evoked a similar reaction.

Other noises would get a hunt reaction. It's possible the phone in the video vibrates when it rings and so sounds like rustling prey.
