Woo! FFEX is open!

Signups are open, hooray! I signed up last night. Won't you come join me?

While I am talking about video games, a few thoughts on Dragon Age: Origins, which I think we are probably a bit more than halfway through. (Yes, the first one. Spoilers for the second one are to be avoided, please. Many thanks.) I like the world, I like the characters, combat has a decent enough variety, and I like that there are many kinds of missions. I am totally smitten with Alistair. The last time I talked to him, he gave me the rose, and it was just such a cute and dorky attempt at courtship that I couldn't help but grin the whole time. I've been angling for this all along; the idea of a romance between the last of the Grey Wardens appeals to me a lot.

There are dangers here for a story junkie like me, playing a game that has such an apparently-flexible storyline. I want to choose every option in conversation, just to see how it changes things. And it goes without saying that I'm going to have to run through at least some of the other opening missions, although I hope I can restrain myself from having to replay the whole game every time. This is a long game -- we're 40-odd hours and maybe a little over halfway through? That's a lot of game to play through more than once.

Alistaiiiiir~

Are you playing a female noble human? Because if so there is a thing you can do that I think you would enjoy a lot, now that you're romancing Alistair :) (I did it and it was AWESOME SAUCE.)

Mmmmm. I think so! Do you know about Alistair's parentage?

Okay. Um. Alistair's parentage comes into play later (after you do the four major questchains and the first half of the endgame), and when it does, if you are sufficiently persuasive you do have the option of making your arrangement permanent. You'll know when it comes up. :) It is SO DORKY DOOFY FLAILING.

Sadly it does not come up in a purely personal context--the context is related to Alistair's family--but yeah. It's pretty awesome. I squeaked and flailed and waved my arms frantically. (Which is also what I did during the rose scene oh ALISTAIR.)
