The Outlandish Companion just arrived. From the looks of the map in the inside front, Fraser Ridge is just north of the present day Ashville, which would make the Black Mountain to which they refer the one I know so well. I am salivating at the thought of delving into the book proper. ;)

*blushes* Okay, I own this book. I could have just looked rather than bugging Ikon with stupid questions yesterday. What kind of librarian am I? ;)

It's a fascinating book, well worth reading, although it only covers through "Drums of Autumn". I'm sure you will enjoy it!

No, no, no. Asheville is not marked on the map nor are many other present-day locations. Without a good working knowledge of the area, you could not have told. This is our back yard, so to speak, and we have traveled the area so often we have a sort of feel for where things are.

It looks absolutely delicious. Now I am going to flog Ikon into finishing the first chapter of Like Flies ... before I tell her where I hid it. LOL

Interestingly, I do have a picture of me about to attend an SCA event (with my parents, back when I was in high school), and I was weilding a knife. I think I was really more a "thief" than a fighter (I fighter would have a sword, I think), but close enough. Heh.

Another funny D&D-type story: when I was a kid, we'd have these big parties at our house attended by many people who played D&D. There would be a keg, and I'd be the only kid there. So, to keep involved with the party, I'd serve the beer and earn 10 experience points for each cup, upping my level as a serving wench. Have I mentioned my parents were weird? ;)

I love it when randomness reflects reality.

That's a great story! :) "This is my keg of serving +5."

No.

Does that mean I have to report to the Governor of Pennsylvania?
