Sick kitty :(

Tori got progressively worse all day, to the point that I called the vet in worry, and they ordered us to bring her in. It's not a UTI, it's severe anemia, and they don't know why. :-/ She's staying overnight, to be stabilized, then hopefully diagnosed tomorrow.

It's so weird and strange not having her here. Right now I'm just hoping she makes it through the night.

Oh no. I'm really sorry, but glad that the vet said to bring her in for emergency hospital care. Fingers crossed that the diagnosis is straight forward and treatable. Poor kitty.

Oh no, I'm so sorry. I'll be thinking of you and Tori, I really hope she pulls through and it's easily treatable. I love my cats like crazy, I can imagine what you're going through right now. *hug*

Ack. I was out yesterday and didn't see this. Poor Tori! I hope she's cashing in on one of those nine lives.

My mom's elder statescat's kidneys started wearing out, and as that got worse, her body stopped producing red blood cells, resulting in severe anemia. The good news is that a blood transfusion stabilized her, and a human drug, Erythropoeitine*, kept her going for several years. The bad news is that the medication is expensive. So I hope Tori's anemia is caused by something that's cheaper to treat. I hate to bring it up, but it took three different vets to diagnose Galena, so if your vets are stumped, there's something to check.

*This is like a hormone created by the kidneys which tells the marrow to create red blood cells. Her marrow still was capable of making RBCs; it just wasn't getting the signal to do so.
