Back from Hawaii! It was an awesome trip except for the part where I fractured the tip of my left middle finger while getting out of a boat. So it's in a splint and my typing ability is rather limited. So I will forgo the long stories for now. Meanwhile, if you want to see pictures and other things, I recommend checking out my Tumblr tag. :) T took a zillion pictures and I'll point you toward those, too, when they're ready.

Ouch! That sounds like it was pretty painful; I hope it heals up okay!

Thanks! Praise Advil, it's not too bad. :) Barring complications, it should heal up in 4 or so weeks.

Did the boat rock and crush your finger against the dock? No matter, it certainly sounded unpleasant when you posted that to tumblr. Hopefully the worst of it heals quickly.

No, even stupider. I was in a zodiac for snorkeling and was supposed to just slide out into the bay. But I get a bit nervous plunging into deep water, so i tried to use the rope hanging along the edge of the side to lower myself more slowly, and my finger got smashed between the rope and the side. Never doing that again. (well, I'd happily snorkel again. I just need to remember to trust the equipment and follow directions.)

Oooh, lovely photos! I hadn't realized Hawaii had so much black sand and perfectly ordinary chickens, which is really making me want to visit sooner rather than later. Ouch to the finger fracture, though! That's an unpleasant vacation surprise.

(Oh god, I need to get back on Tumblr at some point. I feel like I haven't had time for it in an entire Tumblr generation.)
