DA Keep!
We ran through Dragon Age Keep tonight to set up our import for DA:I.
Unfortunately, it didn't find the Warden I want to import first (Sereda Aeducan, of course) and it got fewer than a quarter of Marian Hawke's options correct, so there was a lot of clicking to choose all the right answers. It's interesting to see which quests the game wants to know about and which it doesn't. Many more specifics than I was expecting for DA2 sidequests, particularly -- some of them I couldn't even remember. I picked the outcomes based on what I thought Marian was most likely to have done, and called it good enough. It was a lot of work, though.
It was kind of fun to listen to Varric narrate the story, including the handful of the things from the books they deemed important enough to include. And I'm guessing that I now know where we come in. Two more days! Except I have a dress rehearsal on Tuesday night, so we probably won't actually start until Wednesday. Either way, it's pretty exciting to finally be here.

The comforting sound of Varric's narrative voice...
Unfortunately bioware had a bit of screwiness in trying to get the imports to work. Thus the compromise you saw and the warning that it doesn't read save files. Yes, setting up a world state is a lot of work for each player. :/
I still need to double check the wikia or a game guide for a few of the side quests. IMO, the keep team didn't spend enough time writing the quality of help text necessary for selecting a world state within the tapestry. If you have a secondary reference at hand (the wikia or a game guide), it is easier to figure out the head scratchers of who is this person and what is this sword you speak of???
(Although some of the text in the keep is still wrong: for instance, they left "king alistair" in portions of the text where alistair is potentially not king, which is confusing to say the least. A few other things are poorly worded such that an ESL speaker could become confused in certain spots. Sigh… well, it was a long slog for them and very ambitious when you think about what the keep is actually doing.)
All that aside, it is a nice feature for a series of games like DA. I like it despite the flaws and the art is pretty.
I am very curious to see how the keep updates as I play DA:I.
Re: The comforting sound of Varric's narrative voice...
And I agree entirely, I had no f'ing clue what most of the decisions were (from DA:O)... and the help text did not help at all. :/
I also found a weird bug where a valid world state was denied when I input my decisions in a certain order - I probably should have reported it, but I figured out how to make it work and just shrugged.
And the 'King Alistair' mistake is not going to help the impression that it's what they want as their canon.... (when I first played DA:O I also got the bug where Alistair thought he was king after the landsmeet, even though he... wasn't).
(Also: lol'ing at all the people who are like, WTF when it comes to the Cullen friend/enemy decision!)
Re: The comforting sound of Varric's narrative voice...
I can't imagine how someone who played the games once, three years ago, is possibly going to remember picayune details like whether they saved the halla. :) If I hadn't been going over it with him, T would have been completely lost.
Important Warning
Looks like the official printed game guide is the only way to double check decisions in the keep. :/
