Review of Luck in the Shadows

My latest TBR book review for [community profile] ladybusiness went up last night, for Luck in the Shadows by Lynn Flewelling. I enjoyed it, although I also feel like the last thing I need is another series to read. Why don't people write good standalone books anymore?

Also, sick. :P Just in time for the holidays, yay!

Oh, don't read the whole series. The first two are less a duology and more a single book in two volumes. The third book is a total mess and barely readable.

Loved the first two. The third one came after she told everyone not to write Nightrunner fanfic because it was stupid but then basically wrote h/c mpreg cliches for 400 pages? XD

*Wait--wasn't that the fourth one? I think I found the third one just eh.

I just started that series recently and enjoy it a lot so far (after book 4.) It does feel a bit more self-indulgent with every book, ymmv if that's a good or bad thing. My guess is that Flewelling either reads and writes plenty of h/c fic or would very much enjoy doing so.
