Fandom Year in Review: 2019
Your main fandom of the year? Gotta be Arrowverse, certainly in terms of how much time I spent with the source and thinking about it. I need to find a fannish community around these shows, because I think it would be really fun.
Your favorite movie seen this year? Knives Out. Runner up: Captain Marvel
Your favorite book read this year? The Future of Another Timeline by Annalee Newitz
Your favorite album or song to listen to this year? Of music that was new to me, the Kingdom Hearts piano solo collections by Moisés Nieto.
Your favorite TV show of the year? Still The Good Place. I'm so sad this is ending.
Your favorite video game of the year? Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep, which I liked way more than KH3. (Not that I disliked KH3, exactly, but I had very many issues with it.)
Your best new fandom discovery of the year? That would have to be Arrowverse, although it's not 100% new since I've been watching Supergirl from the beginning.
Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year? I wanted to like Kingdom Hearts 3 much more, especially given how long we waited for it. I got stalled on my total canon replay (on the final battle of KH1); I want to pick that up again in 2020 and see how far I get.
Your fandom boyfriend of the year? Brainiac 5, aka Brainy, aka Querl Dox
Your fandom girlfriend of the year? Nia Nal, Sara Lance, Carol Danvers
Your biggest squee moment of the year? That's a tough one. Maybe the culmination of Yasha's most recent story arc in Critical Role.
The most missed of your old fandoms? I dunno, all of them? I miss being active in fandom really kind of at all.
The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to? I did write one Arrowverse fic (Brainy/Nia, natch), but I feel as though I ought to have more ideas in me. Maybe once we're through with the Crisis arc and back to the regular storytelling.
Your biggest fan anticipations for the coming year? Wonder Woman 84! And the series finale of The Good Place. But otherwise not a lot -- I've been out of the loop in terms of what's coming out in 2020, and I think I'm good with that.
