The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

And now, the real reason we got Disney+, and the reason I knew that I was going to get Disney+ eventually someday. I wasn't able to watch yesterday, but I made sure to watch tonight, and I plan to keep up as best I can.

All set-up, but interesting set-up. Sam is back working with the Air Force, bu as a contractor on his own terms, not as a soldier. Learning his backstory and meeting his sister was wonderful. Bucky is having a tough re-entry to the new world; difficult as it was for Steve to learn how to live in a world without Bucky, I have to imagine it's a million times harder for Bucky to do the reverse. I enjoyed his creative interpretations of the terms of his pardon, and when I figured out why he was hanging out with Mr. Nakajima, it broke my heart. Torres seems like a fun character, and he had great chemistry with Sam -- I look forward to getting to know him. I was blindsided by the reveal with Wrong!Cap at the end, and now I'm really side-eyeing Mr. Beardy White Guy who shook Sam's hand and said "you made the right choice" after Sam turned over the shield. At first, I assumed he was a curator at the Smithsonian who wanted to make the shield a part of history ("It belongs in a museum!"); now, I have to wonder if he actually meant that Captain American shouldn't be Black. I really hope that part of what happens next is Sam reclaiming the shield for himself.

I hadn't realized that the series was only going to be six episodes. Curious to see how much story they pack into a relatively short space.

Oh man, my side-eye for Mr Beardy White Guy is ongoing and it is fierce! I am so happy to hear Sam talk so much with Mackie's accent. This show is the best thing to happen to me in a pandemic. Which I understand is how we're measuring time now. : )

I'm curious how the pacing will work in the future episodes. I liked this set up of the first episode, but I wonder if it really is mean to be watched all together.
