Devin Tabris is in Orzammar -- just starting on Jarvia's hideout. Three armies in, and I still haven't quite figured out who she is yet. A little violent, a little impulsive, genuinely wants to help people, but I'm never 100% certain what she's going to do. I had hoped this might be the Warden to would turn on the Dalish, but while she was definitely keen to punish Zathrian, and did get irritated with the way the other elves sometimes treated her, for the most part she didn't think the rest of the clan should suffer for his crimes. So once again I seem to be following my typical main quest-line path: help Redcliffe, save both Conner and Isolde, preserve the Sacred Ashes, side with the mages at the tower, free the werewolves from the curse and work with the Dalish. About the only thing that ever changes is whether I side with Bhelen or Harrowmont; while I was never quite able to trigger the right conversation options to cement it on a character level, Devin is working for Bhelen, because while she doesn't trust him at all, she has no reason to trust Harrowmont either, and at least Bhelen seems to treat the Dusters like people.

Anyway, so my next Warden will have to make all the remaining bad choices, and fortunately I can absolutely see a concept for it: an Amell who is both devout and power-hungry, maybe in love with Cullen (or maybe just willing to use his devotion to her to gain influence and freedoms in the tower -- we'll see), and more than a little bit ruthless. This is definitely a woman who would side with the templars, and I might even see her deciding she wants the werewolves as allies rather than the heathen Dalish. This game is a ways off, of course, but the idea of it is rather appealing. I wonder who, if anyone, she would romance? Alistair's dark mistress? Twisting Leliana around her little finger? Thoughts for another time.

Speaking of romance... Devin seems to have romance active with all three of her options, although she and Zevran aren't particularly friendly yet. Leliana is sweetly flirty, and Alistair gave Devin the rose -- although rather later than I was expecting, and I feel like the conversation tree is ahead of the cut scenes, because we've already had the "you're great but I'm not ready to sleep with you" conversation, but we haven't had the sequence where Alistair initiates the kiss yet. So I'm not quite sure what's going on with the romance. Devin is at a place where she would sleep with any of them, and she does care on some level for Alistair and Leliana, but both of them are a little ahead of her in the feelings game, and I'll be interested to see how she reacts to any potential declarations that might be forthcoming.
