Some random linky things

-- Mostly to save for myself for posterity, the WisCon 45 vid party playlist, complete with links (where available) and detailed warnings.

-- A new gameplay trailer for Final Fantasy XVI has dropped. I don't know how I feel about an advertisement for a game that focuses way more on the summons than on any of the characters, and it's awfully dark and murky. Hopefully we get some more story- and character-focused content later. But after FFXIII and FFXV being a bit of a bust for me, I don't know how excited I can get any more.

-- However, I'm legit excited that Dragon Age 4 has an official title now! A release date would be a great next step. Do we dare hope for 2023?

I'm struggling with the lack of character focus in the FFXVI trailer, too. I personally loved FFXIII and FFXV, so I was prepared to get excited, but I very much loved them because of their characters. At the moment, there's no sign we'll have a party in FFXVI at all, which I find very discouraging.

I kind of hope DA4 isn't in 2023 just because I might die of an excess of emotion if I ride that and FFXVI at the same time.

I'm unsure about the summons but like, fundamentally, I trust Yoshi-P to deliver an amazing experience that rips my heart out and bites into it while maintaining aggressive eye contact (he hasn't let me down yet in 9 years), so I've just accepted I'll buy the damn thing no matter what. (Also, what characters we do see aren't teenagers! I cannot even express how hyped I am.)

I'm looking forward to a release date for the 4th Dragon Age! I'd like it to come out sooner than later, because I'd like to be able to play it, and my thumb arthritis is not getting any better with time.

I miss Final Fantasy as something to look forward to. I just haven't been able to be excited about any of the new games since I threw the controller across the room and DNF'd 12.
