coincidence?

Our power went out briefly this afternoon. When it didn't come back on immediately, T pulled out the battery powered radio so we could listen to the news, see if there was anything serious going on. (There wasn't; it was back on within 15 minutes.)

The first thing that we heard on the radio? An ad for PG&E.

Hmm....

PG&E.
I am guessing - Pacific Gas and Electric? Sounds typical of what we have to put up with here, except our return is rarely so swift. Damn all these modern inventions like Electricity, anyway. I hope you have a UPS for your computer.

Pacific Gas and Electric?

Correct. Actually, when the power went out, T and I both noted that it had been some time since we lost power here. Ever since the rolling blackouts idiocy of a few years ago, our power situation has been quite stable. My theory is that we share our grid with a nearby fire station, so we get preferential treatment. It's possible that this has no basis in reality. :)

Neither of us has a UPS for our computer. It might not be a bad investment, though. I am somewhat amused that we had our first power outage in years mere hours after you mentioned ordering a new one!

UPS are a necessity here since we are on a dead end which loses power fairly often. Wonder how we can arrange to share power with a hospital or fire station? Hmmmmm......

Until this afternoon, my laser printer was on the same circuit as the rest of my computer stuff and everytime it warmed up, it caused the power to flicker and the UPS to squeal. In fact, it was the fact that the computer went down last night when I called on the printer which alerted me to the need of a new UPS. However, MC ran a line to the basement and another circuit for the printer and now - no more squealing! Oh frajous day!

How ironic
