KH II plot question
Note to self: steer clear of plot bunnies for a game you've only played once.
Oh well, too late. This is something I have a vague idea that I'm right about but really can't remember for sure. Is there any indication in the game that Maleficent is working with Organization XIII? I'm thinking that she's really not, that she just happen to have some common goals. So they use each other when it's convenient, but really they think of each other as rivals. Is that a fair interpretation? If you came across, oh, say a fic with that as part of the premise, would it fit in with canon, or would it seem to you like the author was making stuff up?

(is not encouraging you at all because she wants to see you write KHII fic with Maleficent in, no, not at all *whistles innocently*)

The biggest argument against it is that Maleficent had a very 'I'm on top and no one else' demeanor, but considering how cunning she is -- she worked with the villains in the first game -- if you had her approached the right way, and both her and the Organization only using one another (and aware of this), it'd work. The Organization really have a trump card in that the Heartless only work for Maleficent until someone stronger/the Darkness is around; at the same time, they need the creation AND destruction of the Heartless in order to 1. build Kingdom Hearts, 2. have more Nobodies.
You could probably get a 'cease-fire' easily if the Organization was willing to not have the Heartless directly under her control destroyed, or put their goal of Kingdom Hearts temporarily on hold. Or just have enough Heartless that they could sacrifice others.
It's an interesting idea and I think it could work well, if it was presented right in the fic.

At the same time, Maleficent's big trump card is her control over the Heartless, which goes away near Darkness; if she was getting strong enough to maintain more of her mastery over them, then she'd move up from 'passing amusement' to 'may as well plan to take her out.'
